Freewill What is it?
Freewill What is it
I have a question for you. It may take
more than one post, or perhaps I'll explore this deep topic in an
article. Who knows where this will take us?
OK
Do you
have a brain? Do others have brains? Does anyone with a brain think
the same way, even though they may have grown up together?
Next,
imagine where all the things you know came from, and where you
personally have access to this world of information?
Is this
really important? Well, yes, it is very important for you to be the
very unique Individual that you are; you are a summation of the
knowledge and wisdom of your life, actions, and thoughts. Your brain
was made to absorb all the things in this universe and then use them.
For various reasons, you also learn over time, as you have been in
this world.
So many these days like to think, and assume that
they are more than they are when, in actuality, they are only a
Memory Bank/ Brain of accumulated thoughts and emotions over the
course of their life.
Does this make each of us Special? Of
course it does, and God uses this to do His Will!!
The word
"freewill" appears in the Bible, specifically in the King
James Version (KJV), primarily in the context of offerings. It is
used to describe voluntary offerings made to God, emphasizing that
these acts are done willingly and not out of compulsion. Below are
examples of its usage:
Examples of "Freewill" in
the KJV
1. Leviticus 22:18 - "Speak unto Aaron, and
to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them,
Whatsoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in
Israel, that will offer his oblation for all his vows, and for all
his freewill offerings, which they will offer unto the LORD for a
burnt offering."
2. Deuteronomy 16:10 - "And thou
shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of
a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the
LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee."
3.
Ezra 7:16 - "And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in
all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the
people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their
God which is in Jerusalem."
These verses highlight that
"freewill" is often associated with offerings given
voluntarily to honor God. The term does not directly refer to the
philosophical concept of free will but instead focuses on acts done
willingly as part of worship or devotion.
OK, may we ask an
open and honest question?
Exactly what is Freewill and where
does it come from?
Some will tell you that freewill was first
used, or exercised, in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, and
these people totally believe it in their minds.
But now ask
yourself a truthful question: where did all of Adam's knowledge come
from? How long did Adam live alone? God thought that to be very
important, for He mentions it. Then ask yourself about where Eve's
knowledge comes from and just what she knows or does not know. We are
not given much information on that from God's Word; but God does
mention the fact that Eve in Genesis 3:6 KJV “And when the woman
saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the
eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the
fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her;
and he did eat.” That Eve had much knowledge of her surrounding
world, and that she wanted more, she desired in her heart more than
she was or had at that time, so she went along with the one who
seemed to her could supply what she wanted.
Now, out-right ask
yourself, did Eve use Freewill or did she just use knowledge she
already had to try and get her way??
Eve plainly sinned, and she did so
deliberately to get her heart's desire. Adam, on the other hand, knew
full well what he was doing and sinned openly against God, when all
he had to do was ask Eve if they should not first ask God. Of course,
her answer would have been no, or worse, for her mind was made up,
and the Devil did not have to influence much to accomplish this;
another simple story for another time.
There are more
examples, and given time, we may explore them, but they all boil down
to basic decisions people make with what is available to them and
what their mind knows about the given situation; there is no freewill
as the world calls it, and never has been. It is all supposition, in
our minds, based upon the knowledge we have and the emotions and
events we are involved in at any given moment.
Freewill is
another ploy of Satan, to make you think you have a part, any part,
in your salvation or in this world you live in and move in. But the
truth is, you make decisions based solely on what you know and in
what situation you are standing in at any given moment.
As
some of Jesus disciples said, this is a hard saying, how can anyone
believe it? I am sure after some long thought, Eve said the same
thing about what she had done and could not undo.
While we are
young our minds are filled with so much, we are like sponges and soak
it all up, and then just like it says we come forth speaking lies, we
manipulate our environment to our advantage exactly like Eve did, and
then we either learn, grow, and follow God or we travel a hard road
until God helps us to see the real Truth.
So now that we are
still talking, let us get serious. Does the world teach you how to be
godly, or does it tend to pull you more in the direction of self, and
what you did, or do, in life?
The Bible says we live in our
sins, and we do not seek after God! Can't get any simpler than
that!
So you are telling me that you have Freewill and that
you can choose God whenever you want.
Well, God disagrees with
that assessment. So who is right? You can't have it both ways;
someone has to be wrong.
